KINGDOM AUTHORITY

ree

“So God created human beings in His own image

In the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.

Then God blessed them and said, 'Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it.’”Genesis 1:27–28

“Listen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread on serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (Satan); and nothing will [in any way] harm you.”— Luke 10:19 (AMP)

Authority in the Kingdom Has No Gender

When we study Scripture and the teachings of Christ, we find no trace of gender bias—not even in matters of authority. Those who belong to Jesus—male and female alike—are made in His image and called to rule and reign with Him, not over one another.

He calls both sons and daughters kings and priests (Revelation 1:6; 5:10), stewards (1 Corinthians 4:1–2), and ambassadors of His Kingdom (2 Corinthians 5:20).

Authority in God’s Kingdom is not based on gender, title, or hierarchy. The only qualification is citizenship—belonging to the Kingdom through Jesus Christ.

The Bride of Christ—His Church – His Body, both male and female—shares His authority as we are one, but that authority is never over one another; it is over the enemy.

As ambassadors of King Jesus, we carry His delegated authority to fulfill our spiritual assignments on earth. It is not our own power that moves mountains or drives out darkness—it is His Name and His power at work through us.

The Source of True Authority

God’s original design was for His creation—male and female—to walk in His image and exercise His authority on earth (Genesis 1:26–28).Though humanity lost that authority through sin, Jesus restored it through the cross.

Now, only those who choose to live as citizens of the Kingdom are entrusted with the King’s authority. Luke 10:19 makes it clear: our authority is over the power of the enemy only.

Here are just a few Scriptures confirming this truth:

  • Genesis 1:26 (AMP): God gave humans “complete authority” over creation.

  • Psalm 8:4–8 (NLT): He crowned humanity “with glory and honor” and gave them charge over His works.

  • Matthew 28:18–20 (TPT): Jesus said, “All authority of the universe has been given to Me. Now go in My authority.”

  • Ephesians 2:6 (TPT): “We are co-seated with Christ,” sharing in His authority.

  • 1 John 4:4 (TPT): “The One who lives in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

  • Colossians 2:14–15 (TPT): Jesus stripped the powers of darkness of their authority and triumphed over them.

Followers of Jesus have more authority and power than the devil and all his demons combined. It is time to use it—not against each other, but against the works of darkness.

Kingdom Authority Is Spiritual, Not Hierarchical

Luke 10:20 reminds us that our authority flows from belonging to the Kingdom.

And Matthew 20:27 teaches that “the greatest honor and authority is reserved for the one with the heart of a servant.”

Authority in the Kingdom is not about ruling over people; it is about serving with humility, love, and obedience to the King. Serving in the Kingdom has nothing to do with our employment or income, it’s about setting the captives free. It is not about being male or female, married or single—but about having a servant’s heart and walking in unity with Christ with His character.

To walk in Kingdom authority, we must:

  • Be citizens of the Kingdom through faith in Jesus.

  • Know the King personally and abide in His love.

  • Study His Word—not distorted translations influenced by pagan Greco-Roman philosophies.

  • Pray continually and listen for His voice.

  • Remain humble and servant-hearted.

  • Crucify self-centeredness and fleshly desires to follow the Spirit.

  • Resist the devil and stand firm in faith (James 4:7).

  • Esteem others above ourselves (Philippians 2:3).

  • Overcome evil by doing good.

  • Obey the King’s commands with love and faithfulness.

When we live this way, we walk with confidence—knowing who He is and who we are as His sons and daughters, kings and priests, and royal ambassadors on the earth.

How the Enemy Tries to Steal Our Authority

The enemy knows the power of a believer who understands their Kingdom identity. That’s why he uses deception to make us doubt, fear, and turn against one another.

His strategies include:

  • Making us fearful, doubtful, or unbelieving.

  • Keeping us ignorant of God’s promises and the resurrection power inside of us.

  • Luring us to live by the flesh instead of the Spirit.

  • Tempting us into pride, division, and discrimination.

  • Encouraging idolatry, especially in marriage, where some try to take God’s place of supremacy.

  • Using legalism and religious control/spiritual abuse  to silence the voice of God’s daughters, exclude and restrain them.

  • Leading us into bitterness, unforgiveness, or self-focus.

But we must remember: the created can never be more powerful than the Creator. Even Satan and his demons must bow to King Jesus—and therefore, to His Body, the Church.

As the Ekklesia—we are God’s legislative assembly on earth—we have authority to enforce the victory of the cross.

Conclusion

Kingdom authority is not male or female—it is divine, spiritual, and shared among all who belong to Jesus. The Bride of Christ—His sons and daughters—walks in His authority together, not to dominate or control, but to demonstrate His Kingdom.

Our authority is over darkness, not over each other.

Our calling is to serve, not discriminate and demean.

Our unity is what crushes the enemy underfoot.

Let us walk boldly in the authority of our King—loving, serving, setting the captives free, and reigning together as one Body under one Lord.
